Our USP is Roller Skating through which we deliver social action, volunteer training, healthy activity and it opens up friendship, team work, youth support and all manner of good things!
The Award winning Y Centre, has many other activities too, including School Holiday Activities (Free to qualifying children and very low cost to others if there is space) Multisports, Cooking classes and Arts & Crafts. We host two dance schools and lots of other Studio based activities such as belly dancing, pilates, yoga and so on. Through us you can try Roller Hockey, Artistic Roller Skating even Extreme Skating using ramps!
One of the excellent and very busy Jigsaw Nurseries is also based with us.
The Y Centre provides a warm welcome and a meeting place for all regardless of race, colour, creed or ability, where friendships can be made and counsel sought. We develop activities which stimulate and challenge members in an environment that enables them to take responsibility and find a sense of achievement.
Our Art Shack run by artist Pen Huston is where all things craft and art can be experienced! She is also the creator and originator of the Crisp Packet Project, using crisp packets to create survival blankets and other really useful items! Volunteers are welcomed here.
We run a Junior Volunteer Programme for 14 to 18 year olds, a popular Youth Club, and both the ArtShack and the Y Centre finds space for volunteers to join our Y family. In 2022 we were given the Queen's Award for Volunteering just before she sadly passed away. This is the equivalent of an MBE for a Charity!
