St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides high-quality care for people across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield (and all points between) with life-limiting conditions.
Their expert teams support the physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual and practical needs of patients, and their families and carers. This is in the hospice building, in patients’ own home and in local care homes.
Less than 30% of the funds needed to run the hospice and its services comes from the NHS – meaning they count on the community to help us with the rest.
Volunteers support the hospice in various roles at the hospice itself, or by volunteering at one of the shops.
The Inpatient Unit
At the hospice building in Eastbourne the Inpatient Unit has ensuite rooms that all look out onto the courtyard or orchard gardens. Patients are admitted for short stays to help manage symptoms. Some will die in the hospice, whilst many are discharged after a short stay.
Support at home
A range of healthcare professionals support patients and their families at home and in local care homes. They help to manage symptoms, plan for the future and reassure patients and families. There is also a team who can deliver personal care to patients at home, enabling them to remain in familiar and comfortable surroundings at the end of their life.
24/7 Nurse Line
A telephone advice and support line for family members, carers and healthcare professionals is available around the clock.
Patient and family support
Counsellors and Social Workers support patients and their family members through unfamiliar circumstances. The team also offers spiritual support to people of all faiths and none
Bereavement Support
St Wilfrid's offers support to those who have been affected by the death of someone who was cared for by the hospice.
The support needed following a bereavement will be different for every person. The hospice has a range of tools that can help in grief; information about what to expect following a bereavement, opportunities for group and one-to-one support, and ways to remember a loved one. Find out more at Bereavement - St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne)
Shops
St Wilfrid's has 11 shops selling pre-loved items to raise funds for the hospice. Find out more about the shops at Our Shops - St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne)
