- 24th Feb - 9th March: A display celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Jubilee Library. Jubilee Library opened on 3rd March 2005 Word Book Day. The library has been an outstanding success, winning no fewer than 15 awards for: architecture, urban regeneration, public building and library design. In 2023-2024, there were more than 830,000 visits to the library. Find out more by browsing the display in the library foyer.
- 1st March 3-4pm: Eritrean Women at War exhibition launch event. This powerful photographic exhibition will be introduced by Mebrak Ghebreweldi. Hear the incredible stories behind the images from Mebrak who was a member of the EPLF
- 6th March 11-11:45am: Jubilee Library Silver Strings Music Performance. Silver Strings is a Brighton & Hove string band formed by Music for Connection to enable people of all abilities and backgrounds to create and make music together to promote health, wellbeing, inclusion and quality. Relax and enjoy their performance to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Jubilee Library.
- 8th March 10am-4pm: International Women's day information stalls. The Network of International Women, Hangleton & Knoll Multicultural womens group & Brighton & Hove Women's History group will be in the foyer of Jubilee library with information, books and crafts to celebrate International women's Day.
- 8th March 2-3pm: The power of women in global peace building panel discussion. Join us for lively debate and discussion with Mebrak Ghebreweldi a member of the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front from 1978 to 1994 and founder of Diversy Resources International. Jenny Engledow from the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and member of Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp. Rawaa Ibrahim, a Sudanese leader in the women movement in Sudan and lead on the international ‘1000 Women Can Make International Peace’ project. Dr Aijuan Wang, entrepreneur, expert in master planning, energy economics, electricity markets, artificial intelligence and business modelling.
- 16th March 3-4:30pm: A Sunday afternoon with Baldwin. Join Writing Our Legacy in parntership with Brighton & Hove Libraries to celebrate the publication of 'Encounters with James Baldwin: Celebrating 100 years. Writers Ray Shell and Roy McFarlane will read their work, inconversation with co -editoe Kadija Sesay.
