Bluebell Railway was one of the first preserved heritage lines in the country, resulting in one of the finest collections of vintage steam locomotives and carriages – many of which were preserved straight out of service from British Railways.
The Bluebell Railway commenced train services in August 1960 and now runs steam trains between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead, stopping at Horsted Keynes and Kingscote. Purchase an All Day Rover ticket and hop on and off as much as you like throughout the day!
During your visit, learn about the history and science of the industrial age, experience the thrill of getting up close to a working steam locomotive and luxuriate in the comfort and style of a bygone era. Families can enjoy getting hands-on in our interactive exhibitions, and children can play in our play and picnic areas while parents relax with a cuppa.
Meet railway staff in period clothing, see original working signal boxes, and step back in time as you board our vintage carriages. Our four stations are preserved in different periods of history including Victorian, 1930s and 1950s. If you would like some suggestions on planning your visit, please see what’s on offer at all of our stations.
In addition, we run various events throughout the year including visiting engines, family fun days and Santa Specials. For a full list please visit our event pages.
Dining trains are also in operation on selected dates throughout the year, including services for Afternoon Tea and Silver Service dining, Supper Specials and Rail Ale evenings.
