This heritage Chapel dates from 1785 and John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church, preached there from the existing pulpit.
The Chapel is cared for by a Management Committee, and is supported by the "Friends of Winchelsea Chapel" who subscribe to its upkeep and receive news on the services and activities.
These activities are usually one per month, on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons and include the main Christian festivals.
The Chapel is available for public functions appropriate to a small historic chapel. Seating is approximately 50, which includes a small gallery, and has a small kitchen and toileting facilities.
It is also known as the "John Wesley's Chapel"and round the corner, opposite the parish church of St Thomas the Martyr, is the "Wesley Tree" under which John Wesley preached his last open air sermon in 1790.
