Going out to see bands, clubbing, or seeing friends is part of everyday life for lots of people. However, if you have a learning disability you may need support to do this, and lots of people with learning disabilities are not able to lead full, active social lives because their support workers finish at 10pm, which means leaving events at 9pm.
We believe that people with learning disabilities have the right to stay up late and have some fun! We run our Gig Buddies project across Sussex, matching up people with learning disabilities and/or autism with a volunteer who shares the same cultural interests to form an ongoing friendship, and go out and see some great gigs and events together.
For more info see Gig Buddies
We also run our Sports Buddies project across Sussex, matching up people with learning disabilities and/or autism with a volunteer who wants to do the same types of physical activities and sports. In this way, people are more socially connected while also improving their physical health through activity. For more info see Sports Buddies
If you live in East Sussex, especially around Eastbourne and Hastings, and you want to get out, have fun and make a new friend, then get in touch today to volunteer as a Gig Buddy!
