Aims to encourage learning and excellence in the skills of weaving, spinning and dyeing.
The Guild was formed in early 1951 with a membership of 40 people. We are affiliated to the Association of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. We attend and demonstrate at outside events and members are encouraged to volunteer for these rewarding and fun days in the company of fellow enthusiasts.We currently have a membership of approximately 100 craftspeople, and aim to encourage learning and excellence in the skills of weaving, spinning and dyeing.
As a members of the Guild you will:
receive an informative Newsletter three times a year
be able to hire Guild equipment, including hand carders and combs, drum carders, looms, drop spindles, spinning wheels, skein and ball winders
be able to borrow books from our comprehensive library
have access to Guild run workshops
have access to the Association’s biennial Summer School
Meetings: Guild meetings are normally held monthly, on the third Saturday of each month, at Ringmer Village Hall, Lewes Road, Ringmer.
You are most welcome to attend any of our meetings at Ringmer Village Hall, Lewes Road, Ringmer, East Sussex BN8 5QH as a visitor (£4.00) to see how the Guild works.
The mornings are usually spent meeting and greeting friends, buying sale items and reading the notice boards. We often hold ‘mini skills’ sessions.
Members bring their own lunches (bring your own mug if you want tea or coffee) and the meeting starts at 10.30.
The afternoon is devoted to guest speakers and presentations.
