We champion wildlife and natural places everywhere in Sussex and inspire people to take action for nature.
Environmental Education
The Sussex Wildlife Trust provides environmental education and teacher training to encourage the enjoyment and understanding of wildlife through life-long learning. Our activities and games are designed to support aspects of the National Curriculum, but we also want participants to be inspired to protect the natural world around them.
We offer environmental activities at our education centres at Woods Mill near Henfield and Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. We also work within school grounds and run Forest School, Wild Beach and Nature Tots programmes.
We also offer children's nature clubs including Nature Tots, Wildlife Watch and Wildlife Rangers.
Nature's Recovery
We want our Sussex to be a home for nature's recovery. A place where people and wildlife can thrive together, where people can enjoy nature and the health and wellbeing benefits it provides.
Current issues
We have a long history of campaigning for positive change for nature and people. You can find some current wildlife issue in Sussex below.
Projects
We believe that connecting with nature should be a really important part of everybody's life, whatever their age. A healthy environment relies on people who care. People who spend time in natural spaces care more about environmental issues and seek out natural spaces.
That's why we are working in local communities all across Sussex to help engage with and re-connect people with nature through our nature-based community projects.

Sussex Biodiversity Record Centre
The Sussex Biodiversity Record Centre (SxBRC) is a partnership project housed at the Sussex Wildlife Trust. One of many local record centres around the UK, they collect, manage and disseminate wildlife data.
The objective of SxBRC is to act as a focus for environmental information in Sussex, and thus provide information on the biodiversity of Sussex to inform decision makers and the public alike. This includes the counties of East and West Sussex and the City of Brighton and Hove.
