Description
We are a volunteer-run charity providing space and community for environmental groups and activities around Seaford. Our Climate Hub gives us a physical presence in the town centre. We are open from 10am to 1pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Our main projects aim to reduce unnecessary waste, raise awareness of the environmental costs of waste and provide financial savings for those most in need. We operate on a ‘Take what you can use, Donate as you can’ basis.
- Community Larder – redistributes surplus food among our community. We provide a route to pass on food that shops can’t sell but are still good to eat, home-grown surpluses and donated food items that are still in date or fresh.
- Plastic Free Periods – provides reusable period products to local women and girls
- Family-go-Round – provides good-quality baby equipment and clothing for 0-4 year olds for re-use
Visit the Hub to pick up food-growing advice, seeds and seedlings, tips to encourage wildlife, info on upcoming beach cleans and general environmental networking. Sign up to our Climate Library and you can borrow books for free. We have a wide-ranging collection of over 500 books about all things environmental, including a children’s section. Come in on a Friday morning for information and advice on recycling from our local Environment First community engagement officer.
Or come along to a screening at the award-winning Little Green Cinema where environmental films are followed by vegan refreshments and a facilitated, non-judgemental, motivating discussion.
