Friary Gardeners offers horticultural occupation, training and greater independence to adults with a wide spectrum of Autism, learning and physical disabilities.
We believe each individual has a unique contribution to make here and in the wider community.
All parts of the garden complex are wheelchair accessible. We have raised beds to encourage individual growing projects and to widen opportunities to people in wheelchairs and with limited mobility.
Located at Ore Place Farm, Friary Gardeners is a working nursey, open to the public for the sale of plants and produce in season.
Emphasis is placed upon our trainees working towards their own goals and greater independence at their own pace. By taking account of skill level, personal interests, experience and aspirations and by offering a variety of activities, we aim to create a balance between purposeful occupation and a relaxed atmosphere.
Monitoring Progress
Trainee reviews are held annually. These provide an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of the service and allow service users to identify, discuss and agree future goals. All reviews provide an opportunity to further the development of each individual based on their needs and wishes; the expression of these needs and wishes is encouraged at all times.
