From the time Butterflies was established to date we have grown and now offer Therapeutic and Mental Health Services to children, young people and adults that have experienced Abuse and Trauma, or who may be finding life challenging.
We use the definition of trauma as, 'Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individuals ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel the full range of emotions and experiences'.
Within our work with children and young people we provide a child centred practice, with our therapeutic approach grounded in the use of creative therapeutic techniques, i.e.: sand tray, painting, play, puppets, storytelling and games to support a child or young person find their way to communicate and tell their story.
We also offer Equine Emotional wellbeing Sessions, CATT (Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing)
Butterflies recognises the importance of working with 'the family and other professionals' when working with a child or young person and at times may be part of a Multidisciplinary Team working together for the well being of the child/young person and their family.
We offer CPD workshops and counselling courses.
